Muittut, muitalusat, the joint Interreg project of the Sámi Museum Siida, the South Sámi Museum Saemien Sijte and the Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum Ájtte will arrange two workshops in March 2021. Through the workshops, the museums hope to find out the views of entrepreneurs operating in the Sámi community on how the new main exhibitions and Sámi museums in general could better serve the needs of business life. The idea is also to offer an opportunity for entrepreneurs to discuss the theme with others active in the field and to share experiences and thoughts.

The workshops will consist of speeches, group working and free discussion. The language will be English.

16 March, 10 am – 4 pm: The workshop is meant for Sámi companies engaged in tourism in general and in tourism to reindeer farms in the Sámi region.

18 March, 10 am – 4 pm: The workshop is meant for those engaged in traditional Sámi crafts (duodji).

The workshops will be carried out through remote communication (using Teams), and participation instructions will be sent to those who register closer to the workshop dates. There will be no recording of the workshop available after the workshop hours. The workshops are recorded in the archives of the Sámi Museum Siida, to be used in planning the new main exhibition and in connection with later activities. The workshops are primarily meant for the organisations that have received an invitation. But, do by all means contact Project Secretary Minna Lehtola if you want to participate but have no invitation.
